For Young Adults

Our young adult members at Crossroads created a group called The ACES which stands for Active, Creative, Emergent & Strong. Most individuals first experience symptoms of mental illness between the ages of 18 and 25. However, statistics from Clubhouses around the world reveal that the majority of new members are age 30 or older. For many young adults living with mental illness, it can be very difficult to understand what is happening to them, and to move forward in life. At Crossroads, the ACES work together to encourage involvement of young adults in all aspects of the Clubhouse.

Any Clubhouse member between the ages of 19 and 35 is welcome to become involved with the ACES. Some of thing things that we try to accomplish are:

  • Providing support and understanding to our peers

  • Creating opportunities to explore and share our interests (Creative arts, outdoor activities, etc.)

  • Encouraging involvement in not only the work and opportunities within the Clubhouse, but within the greater community

  • Encouraging young adults with mental illness to socialize with their own age group and to build lasting friendships

  • Keeping track of events or programs within the community that may be of interest to young adults living with mental illness

  • Making young adults feel that they are valued members of our community

If you are interested in becoming involved with the ACES, you can book a tour of the Clubhouse with one of us at (902) 567-7961.
